The course focuses on applying Prokon modules to perform structural modeling, load application, analysis, design, and result interpretation for concrete and steel structures, aligned with common international codes such as SANS, Eurocode, and ACI.

  • Load types and load combination setup (manual and automatic)

  • Analysis results: displacements, reactions, internal forces

Exercise: Create and analyze a basic 2D steel frame with vertical and horizontal loads

Module 2: Concrete Member Design (Columns, Beams, Slabs)

  • Overview of Sumo and Concrete Design modules

  • RC column and beam design using local and international codes

  • Bending, shear, and axial capacity checks

  • Concrete slab design and reinforcement schedules

  • Detailing principles and output interpretation

Exercise: Design and detail a reinforced concrete beam and slab system

Module 3: Steel Structure Design and Optimization

  • Steel section properties and material libraries

Exercise: Design and optimize a steel portal frame using Prokon Steel Design module

Module 4: Foundation and Retaining Wall Design

  • Earth pressures, wall stability, and reinforcement detailing

Exercise: Design a shallow foundation and retaining wall for a small structure

Module 5: Integration, Reporting, and Final Project

  • Integration between Prokon modules (Sumo, Frame, Concrete, Steel)

  • Exporting reports and drawings for project documentation

  • Interpreting error messages and validating models

  • Final project: Structural model setup, analysis, and report generation

Exercise: Complete a mini building structure with combined concrete and steel members, export report and drawings

METHODOLOGY

The instructor-led trainings are delivered using a blended learning approach and comprise presentations, guided sessions of practical exercise, web-based tutorials, and group work. Our facilitators are seasoned industry experts with years of experience, working as professionals and trainers in these fields. All facilitation and course materials will be offered in English. The participants should be reasonably proficient in English.

ACCREDITATION

Upon successful completion of this training, participants will be issued an Indepth Research Institute (IRES) certificate certified by the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA).

TRAINING VENUE

The training will be held at IRES Training Centre. The course fee covers the course tuition, training materials, two break refreshments, and lunch. All participants will additionally cater to their travel expenses, visa application, insurance, and other personal expenses.
