Project Description

The Kenya Red Cross Society, a leading humanitarian organization, sought to strengthen its monitoring and evaluation (M&E) processes to improve the effectiveness and impact of its programs. The challenge was to develop a comprehensive M&E policy and framework that could guide the organization in systematically assessing its initiatives and outcomes.

Kenya Red Cross partnered with Indepth Research Institute (IRES) to develop a robust M&E Policy Framework. This project aimed to provide a structured approach to M&E, enhancing the organization's ability to track performance, measure impact, and make data-driven decisions.

Key Outputs

  1. Situational Analysis: IRES conducted a thorough situational analysis to understand the current state of M&E practices within the Kenya Red Cross Society. This analysis identified existing strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement.
  2. Monitoring and Evaluation Policy and Framework: A comprehensive M&E policy and framework were developed, providing clear guidelines and procedures for conducting monitoring and evaluation activities across the organization.
  3. Monitoring and Evaluation Tools: IRES created a set of M&E tools tailored to the specific needs of the Kenya Red Cross Society. These tools facilitated the systematic collection, analysis, and reporting of data.
  4. Operationalization Report: An operationalization report was produced, detailing the steps and strategies for implementing the M&E policy and framework effectively. This report ensured a smooth transition from planning to execution.

The development and implementation of the M&E policy framework significantly enhanced Kenya Red Cross Society's capacity to monitor and evaluate its programs. The structured approach enabled the organization to track performance more accurately, assess the impact of its initiatives, and make informed decisions to improve service delivery.

The tailored M&E tools and comprehensive training ensured that staff could effectively utilize the new framework, leading to more efficient and impactful humanitarian efforts.
