Project Description
The Gambia, a vibrant African nation, has undergone significant political transformations in recent years. To consolidate its democratic gains and strengthen governance, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) recognized the importance of understanding the perceptions and expectations of Gambians. IRES partnered with UNDP to collect data and insights that would inform evidence-based policy decisions, improve public trust and strengthen public institutions. ur team collaborated closely with key stakeholders, including the UNDP, government officials, and local community leaders, to design an inclusive and unbiased survey instrument. Rigorous sampling techniques were employed to ensure representation across various demographics and regions of The Gambia. The survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews, utilizing technology-enabled data collection tools to ensure accuracy and efficiency. With meticulous attention to detail, the team covered urban and rural areas, reaching a diverse cross-section of society. Our team engaged 10,000 respondents across diverse groups. The collected data was meticulously coded, analyzed, and transformed into insightful visual representations, enabling the identification of patterns, trends, and key themes. The project yielded a wealth of valuable insights that shed light on the citizen's perception of the rule of law, justice, and security in The Gambia. The comprehensive report provided decision-makers with a robust evidence base for policy formulation, leading to the implementation of key reforms and initiatives. The findings informed the development of strategies to enhance citizen engagement, strengthen judicial systems, and improve security mechanisms. Furthermore, the survey facilitated the establishment of dialogue platforms, fostering increased trust and collaboration between the government, civil society organizations, and the public.
